THE 21ST SEASON OF THE INTERNATIONAL BALLET FESTIVAL DANCE OPEN IN SAINT-PETERSBURG

From 5 to 15 April, Saint-Petersburg will host the 21st season of the Dance Open International Ballet Festival. The largest choreographic forum in Russia will return to the historical stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. The festival will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Committee for Culture of Saint-Petersburg.

The event will be attended by 10 famous ballet companies and more than 250 artists from Russia, Belgium, Germany, the Principality of Monaco, Spain, Great Britain, the USA, the Netherlands, and Poland. On the 5th of April the Alexandrinsky Theater will host the premiere of the arthouse dance series The Lost Door / The Lost Room. Diptych performed by artists of the Belgian dance company Peeping Tom. The performance invites the viewer to live a shocking experience and observe what is happening in the human subconscious.

The program of touring performances will continue from the 8th till 13th of April with premiere performances for Saint-Petersburg presented by the Monte-Carlo Ballet and the Dortmund Ballet.

Dance Open will also host several online broadcasts: a video recording of a lesson in the Academy of Russian Ballet on the 9th of April and on the 10th of April, an interview about psychology and language of dance. Also, during the dates of the festival, a photo-exhibition by American photographers Ken Browar and Deborah Ory will be held. Forum guests will see works from the NYC Dance Project series, which is an outstanding mix of high fashion and choreography that captures the dance of world ballet stars in the outfits of famous couturiers.

On the 15th of April, the festival will end with the Dance Open gala. More than 80 dancers will take part in it, including various world stars.
