START OF NAVIGATION IN ST. PETERSBURG

The long-awaited event for residents and guests of the city - the beginning of navigation in St. Petersburg! This year navigation will start on the 27th of April. It means that from the 27th of April it will be possible to enjoy excursions along the rivers and canals of the city again.

WHERE TO FEEL THE TRADITIONAL RUSSIAN LIFESTYLE?

MIR Travel Company will tell you where and how to get there! The excursion is called the Golden Ring of Russia and passes through several Old Russian cities. The route itself was developed in 1967 with the inclusion of 8 cities: Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Suzdal and Vladimir.

DAY 1. ST. PETERSBURG

Arrival in St. Petersburg. Transfer to the hotel. Check in.


DAY 2. ST. PETERSBURG

A panoramic tour of the winter city allows you to learn the history of St. Petersburg and feel its magic Christmas atmosphere. Chilly weather and shorter days frighten away those who dare to come during this season. Nevertheless, it is only in winter that you can admire how winter holidays transform the city and fill it with the magic of white snow and crystal ice of the numerous rivers and canals.

A sightseeing tour of the former capital of the Russian Empire gives you an opportunity to enjoy its unforgettable ensembles: the elegant Spit of Vasilievsky Island, Nevsky prospect which is the heart of the city, the Arts Square formed by 3 museums and 4 theatres, the Palace Square and the impressing baroque facade of the Winter Palace. The Palace Square has the largest Christmas tree in the city, we will definitely visit the Peter and Paul fortress — the cradle of the city.

Free time for lunch.

We proceed to the State Hermitage Museum. The Hermitage is considered to be one of the most important museums of the world. Its numerous and valuable collection occupies 5 historical buildings including the Winter Palace. Magnificent interiors treasure the priceless works of art of all times and from all parts of the world. The collection that was started by Empress Catherine II in 1764 now numbers more than 3 million objects. Objects that date back to various periods from prehistoric times to nowadays are exhibited in 400 rooms. The sheer jewels of the collection are the works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Tiziano, Rembrandt, P.P.Rubens, A. Van Dyck, El Greco... If we went to the museum every day for 8 hours and stayed for one minute only at every object it would take us 15 years to see the whole collection. At the end of the day we will go to a peculiar museum dedicated to the most famous Russian drink — vodka. There you can learn the history of how the firewater was elaborated and produced. You can also take part in the degustation of various types of vodka. Return to the hotel.

This day we will head to Pavlovsk. This classical palace was constructed 27 km away from St. Petersburg as a summer residence of the tsar Paul I and his family. It is one of the few palaces that retain the cozy and private atmosphere of the royal family. The beautiful park of the palace that covers the area of 600 hectares is one of the largest parks in Europe. It is considered to be a perfect example of romantic landscape parks of the beginning of the XIX century. By all means it deserves to be called «music for the eyes». After the visit to the palace you are offered a special kind of traditional Russian entertainment — a troika ride around the park. Troika is a sledge drawn by three horses. Then we will have some hot tea with «pirozhki» — small Russian pies.

Return to St. Petersburg.



DAY 4. ST. PETERSBURG

Today we will head to Okhta park to try to learn how to skate. As you know figure skating is very popular in Russia and we would like to show you how fun and great it is. The park has a picturesque open air skating ring. Attentive coaches will help you to make your first steps on the ring. For those interested in snowboarding or skiing the rent of the equipment is also possible on the spot.


DAY 5. ST. PETERSBURG - MURMANSK

Check out. Transfer to the airport for a flight to Murmansk.

Arrival to Murmansk, meeting with local guide. Transfer to the city.

Lunch in the city restaurant.

City tour. We’re going to see the central square of Murmansk “Pyat’ Uglov” (“Five Corners”), the very place where the city was founded, a famous monument “Alyesha” which is the cover page of Murmansk. Then we will visit the Savior-on-Waters Orthodox cathedral, the monument to submarine sailors perished at sea in peaceful time and the monument dedicated to the citizens of Murmansk who heroically defended the city during the WWII.

Visit to the first ever nuclear-powered icebreaker in the world “Lenin”.

Transfer to hotel. Accommodation.

Free time.

DAY 6. MURMANSK

Departure to the open-air museum and recreation center “Saami Village”. Transfer time - 2 hours.

Visit to the Saami Village: an exciting story about the life of Saami people. We will also have the opportunity to feed reindeers and take pictures with these stunning animals. Then we will play national Saami games and we will ride a sleigh pulled by reindeers.

Traditional lunch at the Saami Village.

After lunch: Free time to take pictures in national Saami clothes.

Transfer back to Murmansk.

DAY 7. MURMANSK

Departure to Teriberka – the edge of the world. Teriberka is a small settlement which is located in the Kolsky district  at the shore of the Barents Sea near the Teriberka river. People have been settled down at this place since 1523 according to some sources. The famous Russian movie “Leviathan” by  A. Zvyagintsev was filmed at this village. Transfer time is 3 hours. On our way to Teriberka we will make stops at beautiful view points.

Program at Teriberka. Visiting a frozen waterfall and the shore of  the Barents Sea – the  inner sea of the Arctic Ocean. Photo stop near the Pomors’ (coast dwellers’) boats cemetery.

Lunch at Teriberka. Transfer back to Murmansk.

Arrival in Murmansk.


DAY 8. MURMANSK - MOSCOW

Check-out and transfer to the airport for a flight to Moscow.

Arrival, transfer with guide to the hotel, check-in.

Today we will get acquainted with Moscow, the capital of Russia, during a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city we will drive along the main streets and squares, make photo stops at the most picturesque places of the city and see the Red Square, Bolshoi Theatre, St. Basil Cathedral, the building of Lubyanka, the former KGB headquarters and many others. We will admire the exterior of the beautiful Novodevichy Convent, visit the famous Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which has a tragic history of its own. Afterwards, we will go down on a fascinating trip of Moscow Metro that is considered to be among the most beautiful metros in the world. Some say that stations are as beautiful as palace halls. We will continue our tour by walking along famous Arbat street, one of the oldest streets of the city that remains to be the cultural and tourist centre of the capital.


DAY 10. MOSCOW

This morning we will visit the historical and political centre of Moscow – the Kremlin. During an unforgettable walk around the impressive territory of the Kremlin, the ancient citadel of Moscow, we will visit one of the Cathedrals, see the Palace of the President, the Tsar Bell and the Tsar Cannon.


DAY 11. MOSCOW

Your transfer to the airport is scheduled according to the departure of the plane.
