Novosibirsk is the third largest city of Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg. This is why it is often called the Uncrowned Capital of Siberia. It was built on the banks of Ob river during the construction of the trans-Siberian Railroad, in 1893. Novosibirsk is the main industrial and business centre of Asian part of the Russia. The city has a rich cultural life and a well developed infrastructure with hotels and restaurants, theatre, philharmonic hall, circus, an academic symphony orchestra, conservatory, and arts gallery.
